What is Lyme Disease?
According to Mayo Clinic, Lyme disease is transmitted through an infected deer tick’s bite. It is caused by four bacteria called Borrelia burgdorferi, Borrelia mayonii (Lyme disease in the US), Borrelia afzelii, and Borrelia garinii (Lyme disease in Europe & Asia).
Symptoms of Lyme Disease
Lyme disease can be characterized by rashes, or small red bumps akin to a mosquito bite. Other symptoms, such as fever, can occur within a month of infection.
