What is a Titration Kit?
Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN) Titration Kit Using Oral Capsules
Doses for LDN are very individualized, and one dose does not fit all. Because of this, we offer titration kits so patients can gradually work their way to their ideal dose. We have helped many patients to not "overshoot" their dose by starting too high.
Our unique titration kits help with the success of therapy. We want to help patients identify the exact dose that brings improvement to their condition.
The LDN titration kit using oral capsules enables a patient to start their low dose naltrexone therapy and slowly ease into the dose that is appropriate for them.
The kit contains a combination of 0.5-mg (Green Vial) and 1.5-mg (Amber Vial) capsules, allowing the patient to start at a dose of 1.5 mg and increase their dosage weekly by 0.5 mg until they reach their personal effective dose, typically somewhere between 3 mg to 4.5 mg. We can communicate during the titration period with the patient and physician as needed to help determine the maintenance dose that is right for the patient.
Titrating the LDN dose is very important for success
Slow titration in dose is necessary: You need to prescribe a titration, starting very low and going up slow. The patient may respond to a low dose, such as 0.5 mg, and if you started at 4.5 mg, you would have missed it. You want the patient to feel good at the dose they are at. It will take up to 2 months of titration to find the correct dose for the patient.
Important: There is a variable response dose and time to relief onset. Dr. Goldstein explains that this medication allows your body to start functioning better. The practitioner must provide realistic expectations for the patient; 2–3 months for results is very realistic.
Dr. Goldstein recommends to start very low with dosing so they can slowly start making endorphins and he slowly titrates up. He starts with 0.5 mg and goes up slowly by 0.5 each week.
You create a small increase in the amount of endorphin levels and the body starts responding. Small endorphin boosts will eventually match the deficit the patient has, and the body will start responding.
We don't want to just turn on endorphins full force because the patient will burn out.
Unique LDN Titrations
Some patients do much better when they start at a lower dose, so we recommend to start at 0.5 mg, but some patients are very sensitive and may need to start at the 0.1-mg dose (100 mcg) and titrate up from there.
Ultra Low Dose Naltrexone (ULDN)
= 1–~100 microgram (mcg) dose
Very Low Dose Naltrexone (VLDN)
> 100 mcg to <~500 mcg dose
= ≥ 500 mcg (0.5 mg)
