Compounded Medications and Erectile Dysfunction
When mens’ needs go beyond nutritional supplementation, there are various prescription products such as Viagra, Cialis, and Levitra.
Alternative options for ED often consist of using a class of drug called phosphodiesterase-5-inhibitors which includes sildenafil, tadalafil, and vardenafil. These drugs are often successful for those that have not had success with commercially available medication on the market.
Doses may also come in lozenge form, such as tadalafil lozenge and sildenafil lozenge. Sildenafil acts as soon as 30 minutes after the first dose, with a duration of 4-6 hrs (or up to a maximum of 12 hrs). Tadalafil has to be taken 30 minutes prior to intercourse, and has a longer duration with a maximum of 72 hrs.

More About Tri-Mix, Bi-Mix, and Quad-Mix Injectables
We commonly compound penile injections for those men who need or prefer other options. These injections are often called tri-mix, bi-mix or quad-mix.
Trimix is an injectable three-drug prescribed medication used to address erectile dysfunction. The active ingredients in the mixture are usually alprostadil, papaverine, and phentolamine. Quad-mix adds one extra drug, atropine.
You will be counseled on the best way to store your medications because they may be temperature sensitive. Some may be frozen and some may be refrigerated.
Men may also complain of lack of desire, which we can also help with. Supplements can often help with libido or sex drive. Testosterone is a factor that will not necessarily correct ED but can help with the “want to” or desire.
