Semaglutide
Semaglutide primarily stimulates the GLP-1 receptor, leading to increased insulin release, reduced glucagon secretion, slowed gastric emptying, and increased feelings of fullness, and it is used to improve blood sugar control and, in higher doses, for weight management.

Potential benefits of tirzepatide with dual receptor agonist action:

- additional blood sugar control
*Activation of the GIP receptor (Glucose Dependent Insulinotropic Polypeptide, also known as Gastric Inhibiting Polypeptide)
- If used alone: Increases glucagon secretion — risky for T2D but when used in combination with a GLP-1R, down regulates glucagon levels.
- In combo with GLP-1R: enhances appetite suppression and improves WAT (white adipose tissue) health and storage capacity, thereby reducing lipid ‘spillover’ and ectopic fat accumulation (around organs: heart, liver, kidneys, etc).
